Chef Francesco and Francesco’s Ristorante & Pizzeria
We are visiting another terrific spot in central Florida with a solid focus on gluten free offerings: Francesco’s. Chef Francesco was born in Palermo, Sicily, and his passion for great Italian food began at a young age watching his father, a pastry chef, cook at home. His love for cooking grew after attending Instituto Alberghiero, an Italian culinary school in Palermo in 1996 and 1998. While there he focused on preparing seafood, fish and risotto specialties. Francesco’s Ristorante & Pizzeria, located at 400 S. Orlando Ave. in Maitland, offers authentic Italian cuisine. Whole ingredients are combined by hand and heart, and prepared using the time-honored method of open flame cooking.
Chef Francesco takes gluten sensitivities and allergies very seriously, and employs strict procedures to prevent cross contamination in the kitchen. His gluten free offerings are not upcharged, making the value an even better deal. Those with gluten restrictions can safely enjoy dishes like penne and meatballs, pizzas, and fantastic, scratch made desserts (with several new recipes planned for release).
We also have the benefit of being joined by a Rep from Performance Foodservice/Roma Foods, which provides many of the whole ingredients for Francecso’s gluten free, and traditional dishes.
